Both my parents were international athletes so from a young age I spent a lot of time around athletics tracks. I wanted to get stuck in as soon as I was old enough to do so! Which event do you compete in and what does your training involve? My event is the metres.
Typically, I compete between May and September each year. I compete at international meetings such as the Diamond League, European Championships, Commonwealth Games and, of course, the Olympics. I train 6 days a week, twice a day. This usually involves a mix of running exercises across different terrains at varying intensities. I also do at least 3 gym sessions a week and throw in some bike sessions for good measure.

Briton Lynsey Sharp was left in disbelief as she went out of the women’s m on the opening day of the World Athletics Championships. Sharp, ranked fourth in the world of those competing in Doha, ran out of steam in the home straight as she finished fourth in her heat.
